The first call for a commercial cleaning contract is a different job
A commercial enquiry is a procurement conversation wearing the clothes of a phone call. The caller is checking whether you are credible before they care what you charge.
What is different about a commercial cleaning enquiry?
The caller is usually not the decision maker, the timescale is longer, and price comes after credibility rather than before it. They are establishing whether you are insured, staffed and reliable enough to be considered.
This is why a domestic script performs badly on commercial calls. Leading with a price range answers a question they have not asked yet and skips the one they have.
What should I capture on a commercial first call?
The site and its size, what is being cleaned and how often, who currently does it and why they are looking, when they need to switch, and who else is involved in deciding.
Why they are looking is the most useful and the least asked. A contract being retendered on price is a different job from one being replaced because the incumbent stopped turning up, and they are not worth the same to you.
How quickly do I need to respond?
Same working day for the acknowledgement, even if the full proposal takes a week. Commercial buyers routinely eliminate companies that took three days to reply, before price is ever discussed.
